TASK 6 (NYPON SOPPA)

The company Kalas selected this retro design for this soup package, I think its amazing and I love this style of design.

TASK 5 (Maple Design: Josh Penno)

Josh Penno is a friend and a great graphic designer.
His work can be found at http://thisismapledesign.carbonmade.com/ and its really worth having a look at. Mostly working within the alternative music scene doing album/flyer work along with some great web design and myspace pages etc. suss it, cant stress that enough.

TASK 4 (How To Start And Run A Graphic Design Business - book)

This book shows artists and designers how they can start their own successful freelance graphic design business. It costs little to start a graphic design business which makes it an attractive opportunity for anyone with an artistic eye. All it requires is a computer, an Internet connection and design skills. And it's the kind of business that can easily be run from the home! The graphic design business has changed significantly over the past few years. Photo- and art-sharing websites, social networking sites, and low barriers to setting up websites have all driven a demand for fresh new graphics, and provided numerous opportunities for graphic artists to reach new markets and customers. This book will show you how to capitalize on these opportunities, market your business, find clients, and stay organized. Like all books in the Start & Run series, this book is written in an easy, step-by-step format. The included CD-ROM has forms and worksheets that will help you get your business running.-amz

This book was interesting and adressed allot of things that i didnt particularly expect to be important regarding starting a graphic design business, overall i was impressed.

review;

Lisa Jackson-
I recommend this book. It is very detailed, informative and well-written. I have owned my own solo graphic design business, which I run from home, for 3 years. The first part of this book would have been great for me when starting up, the second half is good for me now.

TASK 3 (Monster Children review - Mag Nation)

MONSTER CHILDREN - Check out artists like Aaron Rose, Pedro and Spike Jonz in Monster Children, the mag that's never far away from our number one pocket. Or in it. This Sydney based publication can be seen stuffed in the Tsubi's of designers and students, mopping up beer juice at rehearsal or tucked into the handbags of chicks who rawk. 'Nuff said.

This review is on the website Mag Nation and the subject is the design photography and lifestyle magazine Monster Children. Its an amazing magazine and pretty much the only periodical that I drop money on.

TASK 2 (hartleyphoto.net)

James Hartley is a photographer. His blog is always being updated with his work and is interesting to look at from time to time. The design of the blog is simple with nice neutral colours and plenty of great photos and bits and pieces to look at. The guy makes me want to take more photos.

Peacock Films.

Peacock Films.
This film company has to be one of the worst in existence. Literally every single movie they have financed and created has been utter rubbish with low budget nobodies giving mediocre performances and robbing movie goers of their time and money. That being said, the reason I have chose to blog about such an appalling organisation is the design work. I have been fooled literally 15 - 20 times at Blockbuster when hiring movies, into taking home these pieces of rubbish for one reason and one reason alone, they make the films look watchable due to good design work and interesting covers/layouts. Whenever I go to hire a film, I generally check to see if it is a Peacock Films production and never hire it if it is, but sometimes the aesthetics of the covers lull me into a false sense of security and i adopt an "oh this looks interesting" attitude that always, and i mean ALWAYS lets me down. Anyone who has ever watched one of the films put out by this company will agree that they are horrible and the only thing worth looking at is the front cover. The design work is not by any stretch of the imagination fantastic, but it has been geared correctly to entice idiots like me into not checking for the Peacock logo and saving myself valuable money. Kudos.

Sigh...

This is my first entry and I have to say, Blogger looks very dated and I wish I was using Tumblr. Sorry.
